Fred Thompson proposes
universal movie coverage for all Americans
Des Moines, Iowa – David Kruk – Republican presidential candidate Fred
Thompson today announced his plan to offer free copies of the movies that he has
appeared in to all Americans.
Speaking
at veterans halls in Iowa today, Thompson told those gathered that starting
October first, his campaign office would begin giving away free VHS tapes of
randomly selected moves that he has appeared in to any registered voter –
Democrat or Republican - via his “Fred08” website.
Thompson, who is best known for his recent staring roles in the latest TV
episodes of Law and Order, started his acting career in 1987 and has
since appeared in approximately twenty movies and a handful of TV shows. In
addition to Law and Order, Thompson appeared in such notable Hollywood
movies as No Way Out, The Hunt for Red October, Days of Thunder , Die Hard 2
Die Harder, Cape Fear and many others
Mr. Thompson told the gathered veterans that “There is a grand opportunity
for Americans to get to know their next President by watching these movies with
their families. I am confident that the better people know me, the better they
will understand me and what I represent.”
By giving away free movies, Mr. Thompson hopes that his roles as a character
actor in these movies will help pave the way to White House, much in the same
fashion of Ronald Reagan. Not all Americans are convinced.
Mr. Thompson’s Democratic rivals for President were quick to point out that
this is all that Fred Thompson has to offer and noted that the timing of this
announcement was a poor attempt to divert attention from Democratic presidential
candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton’s announcement last week of her universal
health care program for all Americans.
Outside the veteran’s hall in Des Moines, Vietnam war vet Adam Smith told Red
Tractor USA that “Hillary is out there offering universal health care to all
Americans and this clown is offering movies! I know who I am voting for.”
After Mr. Thompson’s speech a spokesman for his campaign told reporters that
if the initial response to this give away is positive that the campaign will
consider offering some movies on DVD. They are also considering offering Law
and Order reruns to interested fans.
