National Guard
To Solve Country's Problems
Washington DC -
President George W. Bush today announced his vision for new ways to utilize the
National Guard in domestic roles. At a White House briefing
today, Bush addressed future assignments for the National Guard.
In addition to patrolling the Mexican U.S. boarder as recently announced, Bush suggested that his administration would deploy National Guard troops in inner city housing projects, post guard members on street corners frequented by drug dealers and prostitutes, add guard members in side public schools to tutor students, and have guard members help the elderly cross streets and shopping for groceries and medication.
Other uses of the National Guard proposed by the Bush administration include having guard members patrol national ports, man food kitchens around the holidays, and the stationing of guard members out side saloons and bars to monitor leaving bar patrons operate their motor vehicles.
Bush also suggested that National Guard could be used to watch and monitor TV shows and movies for indecent material.
In revealing his plan today, President Bush stated “ In the post 9/11 era that we live in, we need to look for new ideas and methods of addressing the challenges that face our great country and the National Guard is well suited to be a the fore front of this initiative.”
